THE NICKER BALLERS STEP IT UP

Boasters League round 6~~

Putting out the challenge, “The Nicker Ballers” have placed themselves in a competitive position after last night’s results. From last week, they picked up a league best 38 points, including winning all 8 matches that they have so far played in round 6. From being 4 points out of last position 7 days ago, they are now 5th. That may not appear to be such a huge advancement but considering 3 of the 4 teams above them still have to endure a ‘bye’ week, they are well and truly in contention of finishing atop the standings by the end of the first half.

Mongoose” is still tenuously holding onto top billing, but their lead narrowed to just 6 points. A weak showing last night hurt them, winning only 2 matches and picking up only 8 bonus points. Having to sit out in round 7, they will undoubtedly be caught by at least the “Space Geckos” and “Butter Nutz” and if they fail to get many make-up matches in over the next week, “Winky-Dinks” and “The Nicker Ballers” will overtake them as well.

This week’s free faller was “Nick at Night” who dropped from 5th to 8th. They only scored 1 point since last week. “Foss Nation” also sat relatively idle, even though they did not have the bye – they only picked up 11 points.

Highlighting some individual performances: Cathy Lysack (“The Nicker Ballers”) chalked up her first win of the season with a 2-1 win over Tom MacEachern (“Winky-Dinks”); Seth Helfman (“Vivio’s”) made sure I marked down his score correctly as he was excited to take a 2-1 victory against Bert Donovan (“Butter Nutz”); Joe Schaden (“Mongoose”) remains undefeated as he scraped past Steve Murphy (“Wardogs”) 2-1; Paul Fershee (“Space Geckos”) picked up his second win of the season with a tough 2-1 triumph over Han Peng (“Foss Nation”).

There are only 3 rounds to play, and with the Wednesday before Thanksgiving being an off for everybody, you all have 1 month left to play your matches. December 5 is the deadline, so make sure you start organizing. Not too many people have played all of their matches so far, that leaves a lot of points on the table. Don’t let you team down!
