SIXTH SPOT UP FOR GRABS
The Boasters League finals are looming. Depending on where
you are, the “looming” could mean dark, ominous clouds threatening to end your
season rather abruptly and for a couple of the teams, it has already started
raining, or, it could mean you see rainbows and unicorns prancing around the
greener pastures in anticipation of a successful play-off run.
Only six teams will advance to the chance of Boasters glory
and right now, all of the bottom 4 teams have a decent chance of claiming that
last spot. Nine points separate 6th from 9th. Wardogs – as predicted this week with
the bye – endured the biggest loss picking up just 6 points and now find
themselves on the brink of elimination. From that group, Nick at Night out did themselves and scored a season’s personal
best 32 points this week, again flip-flopping with Over Served and handing them once again the distasteful position of
being last.
Mongoose continue
on their merry way with another 30 points this week (15 of which were bonus points),
although it was good for only 4th best this week, they still hold a
commanding 28 point league over Winky-Dinks.
The only way to stop Mongoose it
seems is for them to sit out, which they do next week, but I would be surprised
if they lose their top billing. Not that it matters too much, the top two teams
in the play-offs receive the first round bye anyway, and the odds of Mongoose dropping to third place in the
next 2 weeks is slim to none.
Activity was at a fairly decent level last night. I don’t
usually get players insisting about getting into the blog report – especially after
a loss – but Rich Stimson (Vivio’s) requested I make a special
mention of his almost win over Han Peng (Nick at Night). Rich won the first, held what he thought was an unassailable
lead in the second (we all know that that
doesn’t exist!) before it all came tumbling down as Han did what he does
best – run. Rich is no stranger to the hustle either, but he was no match for
Han this evening and the 2-1 comeback win put a smile on Han’s face and a beer
straight into Rich’s hand.
JB Peabody (Butter Nutz) pulled out his secret
weapon with the lobster shorts to take on Mike
Rock (Mongoose) but the mojo is
wearing off. Mike was able to resist the power of the pants and took the 2-1
win. Curt Pedersen (Over Served) recorded his first win of
the second half with a tough 2-1 win over Schuyler
Hamill (Foss Nation), handing
Schuyler his first loss. Funny how that works out. And Jason Currie (Mongoose)
managed to snag a game and put a little scare into Jed Elley (Butter Nutz)
before going down 2-1.
We are at the business end of the league. Two rounds to go,
two weeks to get matches in (deadline is March 5) and we lose 2 courts on March
5 as well. The finals will be played with a tight squeeze to be sure –
something we will simply have to deal with and work around. Will one of the
bottom four teams finally make a push? Will JB Peabody finally retire the
lobster pants and maybe go more in the direction of Lori McColl’s leather pair?
(… oh wait, maybe that’s a bad idea…) Did I remember to close the garage when I
left the house this morning? Hmmmm… life is full of contemplations …

This is Jed, If I had one question for MOHAMED EL SHORBAGY, it would be "Obviously you have heard of the 2016 Blue Chips, they may have been a bit of a Shooting star (rising to extreme glory quick and then calling it a career) if you will, but do you think they were the greatest doubles duo ever formed?"
Ryan here, if I had a follow up question to Jed's, it would be "I know that you are not a doubles player, but If given a 5 point lead in each game, could you and your brother, Marwan have taken 2 games off of The Blue Chips at their peak in 2016?"
Thanks for your time,
JEDCO

I never heard of the Blue Chips. I'm not sure why some random, unknown 2016 doubles team is relevant to the topic of DAC Boasters.
Thank you for your message.
P.S. JEDCO is #1

I also appreciate the fact that they use sustainable materials in their products, which is a big plus in my book. It's always great to see companies taking steps towards reducing their environmental impact.
Overall, I would definitely recommend Shreeji Woodcraft to anyone looking for high-quality squash court flooring in India. Keep up the great work!
