THE NEXT FARRIS CUP DOGFIGHT
With
trepidation the DAC Farris Cup team will bravely present themselves for battle
at the Birmingham Athletic Club for the 12th clash for this respected,
prominent trophy. Overall we hold a 6 victory to 5 lead, but we have only
walked out the winner once in the past 5 years... which just happened to be the
most recent one.
As
defending champions, I’m apprehensive of which BAC team will be standing before
us. From 2011 to 2014, their line up made us look like the 2008 Lions, but last
year we looked like the 1972 Dolphins that went 16-0 and won the Superbowl.
Being that it is their turn to host, and they would be stinging from last
January’s loss, I fear we may well be fighting an uphill battle while wearing
rollerskates. But, I’m an optimist at heart, and I know as a club we are
improving and getting tougher. No task is too great to overcome!
The
Farris Cup first started in January of 2005. It has become a traditional event
between the 2 major Atheltic Clubs of the city, an event that embodies the
spirit of the late John C. Farris who sadly passed in 2004. He was a member of
both clubs, a staunch suporter and promoter of the game.
The
DAC team will be represented by the winners and finalists of the 2015 Club
Championships. There will be 14 singles matches made up of 2 matches in each
division (2.5 to 5.5) and additionally 3 doubles matches - A, B, and senior. I
encourage each and every one of you to come to the BAC and cheer on our squad,
the off court support would be extremely helpful!
Matches
are scheduled to start at 9.15am and conclude at about 12.30pm. There is an
offical luncheon which you are also invited to attend (coast and tie, ~$20 per
person, rsvp a must) where the presentation of the Farris Cup to the winning
team (us?!) takes place. We haven’t
won the Cup on their courts since 2010... time for that to change!
Our
players:
Jed Elley, Vikram Chopra, Eric Green, Sante
Fratarcangeli, Paul Ward, Phil Pitters, Tom MacEachern, Dane Fossee, Josh
Slominski, Jason Currie, Chris Webber, Mike Rock, John Rogers, Andrew
Walawender, Peter Logan, Kirk Haggarty, Greg Rivard, Mike Counsman, John
Dunwoody, and Bob Burton.

This is Jed, If I had one question for MOHAMED EL SHORBAGY, it would be "Obviously you have heard of the 2016 Blue Chips, they may have been a bit of a Shooting star (rising to extreme glory quick and then calling it a career) if you will, but do you think they were the greatest doubles duo ever formed?"
Ryan here, if I had a follow up question to Jed's, it would be "I know that you are not a doubles player, but If given a 5 point lead in each game, could you and your brother, Marwan have taken 2 games off of The Blue Chips at their peak in 2016?"
Thanks for your time,
JEDCO

I never heard of the Blue Chips. I'm not sure why some random, unknown 2016 doubles team is relevant to the topic of DAC Boasters.
Thank you for your message.
P.S. JEDCO is #1

I also appreciate the fact that they use sustainable materials in their products, which is a big plus in my book. It's always great to see companies taking steps towards reducing their environmental impact.
Overall, I would definitely recommend Shreeji Woodcraft to anyone looking for high-quality squash court flooring in India. Keep up the great work!
